Who says new year, says new projects and new horizons.
At Workshoptonic, we promise you that this year 2019 will be rich. Rich in design. Rich in art. But especially rich in discoveries.
So let's start with a selection of brands and designers to absolutely follow this year. They are all different but have one thing in common: their talent. You will not regret hearing about them!
BEN & AJA BLANC: LUMINAIRES, FURNITURE AND SCULPTURE OBJECTS OUT OF COMMON
A pair of Rhode Island-based designers, Ben & Aja Blanc specialize in contemporary American minimalism. All their parts are made to measure and locally. Thanks to nature-inspired drawings and artisanal production techniques, the brand's creations are absolutely divine, both functional and aesthetic. Ben & Aja Blanc exploit a unique sense of creativity, and use rich and noble materials (ranging from horsehair to crystals). Quality is a priority for this successful duo.
Since the creation of their studio, Ben & Aja Blanc have attracted the attention of renowned architects and art lovers. Their work was presented at the "WILD" exhibition organized in Paris by Maison & Objet, at Design Week in New York and at Architectural Digest Home & Design. They have also been published in the New York Times, Elle Décor and Vogue.
ATRAFORM, THE STUDIO WHERE ARTISTS, DESIGNERS AND ARCHITECTS EXPLOIT THEIR POTENTIAL
Founded by Alexander Diaz Andersson, the Atraform art and design studio is characterized by its blend of pure Scandinavian lines and whimsical elements from traditional Mexican art.
For Atraform, the most beautiful creations come from collaborations. Beauty, usefulness and timelessness are the common characteristics of all the pieces signed by the brand. These are at the crossroads of art and functionality. Meeting the needs of everyday life with an unparalleled artistic eye, this is the challenge of Atraform.
LAKE + WELLS, THE STUDIO THAT TELLS THE STORIES OF ITS CREATIONS
Founded in Chicago by Mark Kinsley and Tamera Leigh Staten, the Lake + Wells brand combines ancient materials, craftsmanship and modern technology to create evocative designs of furniture, lighting and other objects.
Hand-picked, the artisans and manufacturers of the studio work together metal elements such as brass and copper, blown glass shapes, aluminum structures, as well as concrete bases for an absolutely divine design and artistic rendering. With the desire to design products as innovative as timeless, the pieces signed by the studio are appreciated in the context of residential and professional projects.
VIDERE LICET, AN ARTISTIC CONCEPTUAL MIRAGE THAT STAYS
Videret Licet was born in 2014 from a meeting between artist and designer Daniele Albright and design curator Stefan Lawrence. Based in Los Angeles, the studio cuts across art and design practices.
Minimalist sculpture, Hollywood glamor and experimentalism of the 70s, the pieces made by Videret Licet are surprising and original. Dubbed "bold, glamorous, and cheeky" by the New York Times, the brand's collection includes both functional pieces and limited edition works.
