Artisanal techniques and luxurious materials
"Lighting transforms space. This is the biggest determinant of the sensation of space.” Originally from Romania, Andreea Avram Rusu immigrated to the United States with her family and earned a degree in architecture from the University of Texas. A post-graduate work in an architecture firm led to a stay in Paris, where the sculptural beauty of the City of Light helped shape its aesthetic. The young woman then returned to the United States to continue her interest in architecture, this time in New York. A new company was born.
Founded by the talented architect in 2004 in Brooklyn, Avram Rusu studio designs and manufactures lighting and furniture collections that explore the relationship between art and design.
The brand works in collaboration with a group of local artists and artisans, including glassblowers, ceramists, metalworkers, machinists, finishers and woodworkers. All supervised by the founder, who ensures that each product manufactured is of optimal quality. Each piece is made by hand directly from the studio. Rigorous attention to detail and construction characterizes the work of Avram Rusu.
